Pierrefonds and Compiègne's Castle Visit
Today was our first full day in France. We were welcomed at Blérancourt's school by all the classes, and particularly by the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders who sang in English and French for us.
We then took a bus for the Château de Pierrefonds, typical of medieval architecture. The rain stopped right on time so we could walk around the fortress.
From there, we went to the château de Compiègne, which used to be a residence for the kings and emperors of France. Through a guided tour, our students were able to learn a lot about French history, while enjoying the
sumptuous rooms where Napoleon used to live. We ended the day by a special "goûter" (snack), kindly offered by the administration of the Château.
Blérancourt's community has been very nice and warm in the way they welcomed us in their town. All the hosting families are really doing everything
possible to make sure our students will have a wonderful experience.
